Things work in cycles. -Joan Jett
I went to a workshop today and got lost finding my way there. The city hadn’t changed, perhaps my brain has. I was in the right area, but I’d turned too early. Since I’d been to the venue before and “knew” where it was, I didn’t “bother” to print a map. Thank goodness I did have my trusty cell phone, so I pulled over, looked at a map and drove a few blocks further to the correct location.
Have you ever done that? Have you ever been driving somewhere and missed a turn and thought that you were lost? Being a little or a lot lost can be scary.
LIFE DOESN’T HAPPEN IN A STRAIGHT LINE
Life rarely progresses in a straight line. Many times you set a goal and get frustrated when things don’t work out the way you expected, so you stop and give up because you’re lost or not sure where you are.
That’s when you need to pull over, rest, and look at your map again.
NEVER TURN BACK
If you are feeling a little or a lot lost my friend, it may be time to push yourself just a little further because your goal is merely a short distance away, You may also need to alter your directions just a bit because there’s a possible obstacle you need to detour around.
IF YOU ARE LOST, ASK FOR DIRECTIONS
You might even want to ask for directions from a trusted friend or advisor. Find someone who has already taken the route you’re traveling and more than likely they will want to share every mile of their experience with you. Don’t hesitate to ask.
On the other hand, you may find your way by helping others. Check with your friends and loved ones and see if they are at a point where they are disheartened and frustrated. Perhaps you are the one who is there to help them continue on their way and by doing so you will find your way as well.
Life is full of cycles: seasons change, each month has moon phases and our bodies are affected by these changes. The best thing you can do is be aware of these changes and change right along with the cycles. Give yourself permission to be a “New Season”!
THE Simple 3 R’s for Maneuvering Life!
In order to successfully ride the cycles of your life take the time to:
- rest (take 5 minutes to breathe and sit quietly)
- refresh (drink a glass of water or a cup of herbal tea)
- reframe (look at why you’re doing what you’re doing)
Then resume your journey. You will find Your Way! And don’t forget to help others as they navigate their routes.
